Infrastructure – Design Manager

Introduction

As a provider of multi disciplined technical services to the built environment, my client is committed to design excellence in the delivery of first class solutions which combine, innovation, imagination and best practice.

We are looking for qualified and experience individuals to join our team and work with an incredible portfolio of clients and projects in Dubai.

Our Dubai Office is currently seeking to appoint a Design Manager which will work within our Infrastructure Team ensuring project deliveries and resourcing requirements for projects are met.

Requirements

Technical Competencies

Essential

• Minimum of 10 years experience working in a similar role, preferably at least 5 of which in management.
• Supervisory experience essential.
• Have good experience in working in multi-disciplinary design environment.
• Must have outstanding communication skills in written and spoken English.
• Exceptional level of computer literacy in i.e. Microsoft Office as well as knowledge of Primavera/MS Project.

Desirable
• Ideally degree qualified in engineering qualification.

• Ability to relate and interact successfully with a multi-cultural workforce at all levels is essential.
• High degree of accuracy required.
• Must be able to work independently with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities
• To develop and maintain the existing multi-discipline design operation to achieve improved production quality of all infrastructure projects.
• To improve and maintain both the technical and financial performance of the design production process including design co-ordination and management.
• To achieve efficient and consistent high quality delivery of multi-discipline design production in liaison with the respective Project Managers to the satisfaction of my Clients.
• To promote and maintain a co-operative `team culture’ within the multi-discipline design office.
• Resource planning for recruitment purposes.
• Updating project programmes with Project Manager on a regular basis (preferably fortnightly, but a minimum of once per month) to allow forthcoming deadlines to be identified.
• Reviewing resource requirements with Head of Department on a regular basis (preferably fortnightly, but a minimum of once per month) to forecast future requirements.
• Project forecasting to enable optimum management of existing resource based on the programme and resource requirement updates, meet with Head of Department to overview any short-term conflicts, agree which projects take priority and feedback to Project Managers if deadlines need to be reviewed.
