| Highways Engineer Job Description Abu Dhabi plans to triple its population over the next 20 years which makes this location very promising and exciting for a Civil Engineer. Our Highways and Utilities Infrastructure team in Abu Dhabi is expanding in response to the massive expansion proposals in the city and across the region. Due to this growth, we are now looking to recruit Infrastructure Engineers to join our busy team. The type of work generally falls into one of two categories, firstly, developing Highways & Design from master plan for major development proposals and secondly, hooking up the buildings our architects and engineers design, to the existing infrastructure. We work closely with the Bridges, Transport Planning and Environment teams. Requirements Technical Competencies Essential Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent 5-10 years industry experience Good knowledge of AASHTO & DMRB design standards for highways Has good knowledge of the design procedures for major highway projects Has good knowledge of road safety audits Has good experience in the geometric design of roads, roundabouts, junctions and interchanges, traffic projections and pavement design methodologies Desirable Masters in Civil Engineering (Transportation/Highways/Urban Planning) Have an aptitude to multi-task and be self starting in new business environments Has skills in Project Management and Bid Preparation Has knowledge of highway design software (MX preferable) Has good knowledge on traffic management for urban areas Responsibilities Behavioural Competencies Essential Good Team Player Good Leadership and Communication Skills Good command of English Language Produce detailed designs of interchanges (cloverleaf & trumpet), roundabouts and junctions conforming to AASHTO/DMRB standards Produce detailed designs of Traffic Signs and Traffic Signals, Road Safety Barriers Produce project design drawings from concept to the tender stage Produce Technical Specifications for various components involved in the design of the road network Conversant with Highway Design software and guide the team during the design process Preparation of project design reports and liaison with the client Rewards and Benefits We offer an excellent package which includes: A competitive salary for the right candidate Accommodation allowance Transportation allowance 30 calendar days annual leave Medical and life insurance cover Company gratuity scheme Discretionary bonus scheme Annual return airfare to point of origin | |
