Director of Materials Management Department

Provides leadership for the Materials Management Department (includes Purchasing) and to Mafraq Hospital and its PHCs

• Experience in strategic planning for material management, contract administration, and value analysis
• Experience in redesigning the materials management department
• Oversees supply chain management operations for Mafraq Hospital and its PHCs: responsible for Purchasing, Sterile Processing, Warehouse and Central Services
• Expertise with regulatory compliance and tendering process
• Strong communications skills with vendors
• Construction experience; designed space and plan equipment needs for a new hospital, relocating supply and procurement and surplus functions
• Plans, organizes, coordinates, direct and evaluates the operations of the MM Department with close interaction with clinical staff throughout the organization
• Collects and maintains a management information system sufficient to properly manage and submit period reports for quality improvement activities
• Attends required in-service to maintain/enhance knowledge and skills
• Policy and Procedure Development and Implementation
• Interviews, hires, coaches, counsels, trains and performs performance evaluations to MM Department staff
• Assists in development of department’s budget and operation thereof

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelors Degree from an accredited university
• Technically knowable implementing corporate wide programs
• Certified Material and Resource Professional (CMRP)
• Certified Purchasing Manager
• Responsible for the operational management and educational activities of the supply chain/materials management professional organization
• 10 years experience in senior management and supervision role in a medical center MM Department, including extensive knowledge and experience in MM services
• Cultivates efficiency and effective working teams – works well with other departments and builds respect throughout the organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Strong client relation skills
• Computer knowledge of MS Office including word, excel and power point
• Ability to interpret reports and documentation
• Authoritative leader
• Knowledge of time management and strong leadership skills a must.
