| Teacher Development Specialist Teacher Development Specialist Reports to: Instructional-Leadership Coordinator The Teacher Development Specialist (TDS) is to mentor, support, and develop the MOE teachers in their school who are teaching subjects supported by the Madares al Ghad program. One form of support is in the teaching of a single section of students as a demonstration classroom. The second role will be support of teachers through work with them inside of their classrooms to use new strategies, team teach, provide feedback, support assessment, facilitate differentiation, and other supportive roles. Primary School Teacher mentors teach English, Science and Maths or Arabic to young learners Middle School Teacher Mentors teach either English as a Foreign Language or Math or Science Secondary School Teacher Mentors teach English as a Foreign Language Assignment– each TDS will be assigned to one school Cycle 1 (grade 1-5), Cycle 2 (6-9) or Cycle 3 (10-12). This school could be in any one of the current 31 MAG schools in the 5 Northern Emirates (Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah,Sharjah, or Umm al-Quwain.) Essential Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Higher degree in the relevant field (Primary, Elementary, ESL, Math, Science) • Recognized teaching qualification at the assigned level • Minimum of 5 years full-time teaching experience at the assigned level • Experience in mentoring teachers • Native or near-native English fluency (equivalent to IELTS 7 Academic) • Skill and experience in using information and communication technology to enhance learning • Demonstrated skills in team work, building relationships , collaborative planning • Experience in applying relevant and appropriate student centred, active learning pedagogy • Excellent communication skills – written and spoken Desirable • Experience in facilitating professional development Knowledge of Arabic • Experience of teaching in the Middle East Duties • Teach 1 section of students at the assigned level • Create and model a learner-centred classroom environment that supports the needs of all learners • Create and ensure assessments are delivered according to MAG guidelines and assessment structure • Collaborate with colleagues in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of curriculum materials and delivery • Assist colleagues in evaluating and developing behavior management strategies for use in the classroom • Lead weekly collaborative planning meetings • Keep accurate on-going records of student performance and achievement to monitor student progress • Informally observe MOE teachers who teach in MAG subjects and provide constructive feedback and support • Discuss student progress with parents throughout the year • Maintain a high degree of cultural understanding and sensitivity • Provide and play an active role in PD sessions • Demonstrate the importance of open and sensitive communication with all parties involved in the student’s education | |
