| Senior Engineer- Landscaping Primary Function: Supervise and ensure the implementation and administration of Dubai emirate's landscaping network. Coordinate all issues related to landscaping functions, system and all related procedures and workflows. Perform the horticultural works and projects on Dubai emirate highways. Apply engineering technology and knowledge of biological sciences to horticultural and landscaping projects. Core Competency Level: Employment Standards: Have a BSc Agricultural Engineering, Landscape Architecture or equivalent sciences from a recognized university. Related Masters Degree is preferred. Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of horticulture and landscaping management, techniques, functions, systems, and procedures. Ability to use of AutoCAD and GIS. Skill/Experience: BSc with 15 years, or Masters with 8 years of relevant experience in a large and active service organization in horticultural engineering works. Has the ability to handle and implement the sketch design and preliminary cost estimates. Possess good supervisory skills including the ability to monitor the project team, and ability to perform multitasking. Good communication skills, report writing, group facilitation, and good computer skills. Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written) required. Analytical thinking, problem solving, business innovation, and supervisory skills Attitude: Adaptability, team work / group effort, focuses on results, quality oriented and an active listener. Key Performance Areas: Organization Effectiveness: • Actively contribute in the annual budget implementation, evaluate and recommend specific adjustments during the implementation to project needs. • Ensure the timely submission of business measurable objectives to the concerned supervisor. • Assist management during staff performance appraisal and actively contribute in the orientation program for new employees including the clarification of organization roles and job description. Landscaping Engineering Management: • Contribute to the development of landscape schemes. Review, sketch, design, preliminary costs estimates, and prepare working instructions and accurate specifications for contract purposes. • Evaluate consultants and Contractor’s performance and provide reports to line management • Check and follow up payments to consultants and Contractors. • Work with the team assisting landscape staff with the project's implementation and carrying out surveys. • Prepare the in-house design for roads, intersections, roundabouts, and parking areas; review and audit all the project plans which are designed and implemented internally. • Prepare scope of work for in-house projects to be tendered to contractors. • Provide on-site training support to less experienced colleagues and engineers, and review projects work. • Keep adequate records of projects and regularly report projects progress to manager as appropriate. • Develop and conduct site visits, monitoring and checking work on-site projects. • Implement the approved landscaping design for roads, intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, parking areas, etc. • Establish general landscape requirements with related departments within road directorate, conducting preliminary studies of contours/ outlines, soil conditions, drainage, bionetwork, roads and paths. • Follow up with the consultants to ensure the designs criteria, their suitability to the project location and levels, and consultants’ commitment with the contract’s terms and conditions and supervise the selection of the suitable materials; and ensure the better use and distribution. • On-site, material, pattern and color comparison and choose most appropriate to use. • Revise with the consultants design stages and tenders’ documents. • Insure the implementation of the preventive and the corrective maintenance of Dubai emirate's landscaping. • Coordinate with other experts in the field, engineers, surveyors and town planners, and ensuring deadlines are met. • Supervise and utilize the resources, staff, and workload allocation on-site. • Provide related progress status and issues, and prepare reports to the concern supervisor. • Supervise and control the structure of irrigation, drainage and water control systems. • Supervise the cleaning, grading, milling, mixing and fertilizing processes. • Monitor and control of landscaping design, construction, and plants fitting. • Ensure compliant landscaping design specifications are delivered to the project and in conformance with the site requirements and plan. • Supervise and help outsourcing contractors to improve roads gardening productivity. • Acquire latest knowledge, advancement in material and technology through attending market, seminars, and exhibitions. • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position when appropriate. Communication/Information Management: • Analyze statistical data and reports to identify causes of landscaping problems and develop recommendations for improvement. • Keep adequate records of projects and regularly report project progress to manager as appropriate • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information and availability trends through current networking. • Maintain the Information System to enhance and improve the same for efficient use. • Fulfill all reporting requirements of all relevant government rules and regulations. • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning landscaping related data. Quality & Excellence Standards: • Ensure efficient, courteous and timely services to all employees’ requests and inquiries. • Ensure achievement of the quality objectives as set forth in the RTA and the department quality plan. • Ensure achievement of targeted results in each key performance areas as outlined in the plan. • Comply with the RTA’s quality standards and requirements. • Comply with the RTA policy in respect to the Shareholders, Customer, Suppliers, Employees, and to carry out your duties and responsibilities as per RTA Code of Conduct. Health, Safety & Environment: • Ensure all the environmental aspects in the area of responsibility are identified and actions are taken to ensure compliance with the HSE standards. • Comply with the RTA applicable HSE rules and procedures. • Promptly report all accidents and/or potential hazards. • Ensure that proper housekeeping is done within the workstation. | |
