POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title/GradeDepartment Head of Quality (005e)(Grade 2)Nursing –Quality Department
Organizational Relationships;Internal Reports to: Director of Nursing Responsible for: CoordinatorsLiaises with All Head of Departments Clinical Instructors and Staff in Clinical & Non Clinical area External; Accreditation Canada, other Quality bodies, Relevant Government Departments

Job Summary;The position has responsibility for coordinating and assisting in the facilitation of clinical and non clinical areas of Sharjah Teaching Hospital & Dental Hospital ( STH) continuous quality improvement, risk management and education programs Participates in assisting STH departments to prepare for accreditation and maintain accreditation standards
Scope of Service Duties and Responsibilities.· Actively participates in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of Sharjah Teaching Hospital (STH)· Comply with all STH policies and procedures and fire regulations · Participate in commissioning the Quality Department and associated areas · Participate in all aspects of the International Accreditation program to assist STH attain and maintain international accreditation standards · Responsible for commissioning and overseeing the daily activities of the Quality Department which incorporates Quality Improvement /Risk Management/Accreditation and Policy and Procedure development and overseeing the activities of all Departments to achieve set accreditation standards & objectives Quality Improvement ( QI) /Risk Management · Oversee the establishment of an QI department and ensures the day to day actives are run to a high standard · Contribute to the enhancement of the quality culture at STH by raising the profile of quality, coordinating information sharing sessions, provide education and guidance to staff;· Work in partnership with Head of Department and colleagues to ensure an integrated approach to the delivery of quality outcomes throughout STH through assisting and supporting them in designing, conducting, analyzing and reporting on quality activitiesAccreditation Program · Coordinate and participate in all aspects of the International Accreditation program development to facilitate STH attaining and maintaining accreditation status by participating in the development of strategies, processes and plans to meet the international accreditation standards, · Provide advice and training to department heads and staff, and establish a hospital wide data collection systems for analysis and reporting · Provide advice, education, coordination and implementation for the international accreditation programs through: organization-wide surveys, through the Head of departments develop clinical and other indicators, develop action plans, assistance in self-assessments, · Liaise with designated International Accreditation Board other quality organizations in respect of materials, schedules and programs relating to accreditation and periodic review cycles.Policy and Procedure Division· Responsible for overseeing the hospital wide development and implementation of Hospital and Clinical Policies and Procedures in collaboration with Head of Departments in compliance with best practice local and international regulations and guidelines.General · Provide leadership and support for direct reports, appraise their performance and ensure that staff receive appropriate performance management, professional training and development opportunities;· Attends assigned committee and meetings as a member/chairperson,· Recognize, accept and support individuals from all different cultural backgrounds· Work any shift as per the duty roster of the Hospital when designated· Accepts tasks and projects out with the specific role as/when assigned by Director of Nursing
Self Development Participate in internal orientation, mandatory ,ongoing education programs Attend external conferences, workshops, seminars and courses that will enhance and maintain a current your knowledge base and your licensure requirements
Position Requirements;QualificationsRequired Nurses; Graduate of an accredited school of nursing holding a Bachelors Degree in Nursing / Diploma of Nursing ( 3 yrs Course )Non Nurses: Bachelors Degree in Sociology, Sciences or Quality from an accredited university CPHQ Certificate Post graduate certificate in QI, Risk Management Desirable Masters/PhD from a accredited organization in QI, Risk Management or Management
Licenses/RegistrationNurses must hold a current licensed as a Registered Nurse with a Professional Organization in country of origin and UAE-MOH License (required within three months of employment)Non Nurses member of a QI professional institute
Position criteriaMust have held a senior quality improvement position in the private or public sector in an International Accredited Hospital 12 years post graduate experience of which 5 years in a senior position, plus a minimum of 3 years in a Management position in Quality Improvement and /or Accreditation Able to provide Educational Programs/activities to individuals, small & large groups Advantage previous commissioning experience as the Team Leader /Manager for a unit/department
Other Skills/Abilities Demonstrate proven success in collaborating with Head of Department Able work in, lead and influence a diverse employee base within a muliti-cultural environment Ability to develop and coordinate team focused objectives Able to adapt to organization and environmental changes Data Management & Analytical skills Computer literate familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point Must be fluent in written and spoken English, spoken Arabic skills desirable

Sharjah Teaching Hospital is a private, not-for-profit 210-bed hospital plus a 114 chair dental service, located at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
The Hospital was established by HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah with the objective of providing world standard healthcare.
The hospital will employ approximately 770 employees with an anticipated turnover in excess of Dhs.200million per year.
Sharjah Teaching Hospital is strongly affiliated with the tertiary sector via the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Sharjah which has a relationship with Monash University in Melbourne Australia for their medical and pharmacy degree courses and the University of Adelaide for their dental degree course.
