Environmental Data Project Manager

RTI International is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in serving in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as the in-country manager of a large, fast track, high-visibility environmental data project. Position is contingent on contract award.

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful applicant will lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop comprehensive systems for emirate-wide environmental data management. Managing multiple activities simultaneously will be typical. Duties include leading efforts to conceptualize the system, developing and implementing detailed project plans, meeting regularly with project sponsor and stakeholders to plan and execute project activities, conducting analysis of system requirements, establishing and implementing quality assurance procedures, and monitoring and reporting on the technical and financial status of the project.

Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the fields of Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related subjects is required.

Experience: Fifteen (15) years of professional experience in environmental assessment or related subjects, with demonstrated proficiency with information system analysis/design and evidence of increasing responsibility in project coordination/management. RTI International is seeking an entrepreneurial leader, responsive to client needs, who can work effectively under pressure, overcome obstacles, and adapt quickly to evolving requirements. International experience in a multi-cultural working environment is highly desirable. Middle East experience is a plus.

Knowledge: The successful applicant should be knowledgeable of the concepts, principles, and techniques of project management, environmental data acquisition and management, data system analysis and design.

Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain strong relationships with counterparts both inside and outside of the client organization. Must be fluent in English and have proven ability to communicate quickly, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. The applicant should have demonstrated ability to make oral presentations logically and persuasively to senior managers for whom English is a second language.
