| MEP Quantity Surveyor Prime Objective:To accurately estimate the direct costs of material and material quantities required for the assigned project. Key Tasks: Pre-Tender Submission. Overall responsibility for tender preparation and submission. Review any Special Terms and Conditions of Contract, Pre-tender including collateral warranties and insurances etc. Liaise with design and commercial manager to foresee and allocate the risks during tendering. Produce Bill of Quantities production and scope of works on Blue form Contracts. Produce Pre-Qualification submissions for Tenders. Produce and review rates based on the information provided by suppliers, stores and Finance. Post Tender Submission. Oversee any post tender negotiations and attend any negotiations or pre-appointment meetings. Participate in post tender negotiations and oversee a smooth transition between pre tender and post tender and sign off of tender breakdown. Produce labour & material Tender Breakdown with Commercial Manager. Produce budgets against the signed off tender. Finalise any value engineering possible with Contract Manager and Commercial Manager. Provide necessary input for purchase engineer to enable procurement. General Tender Items. Attend weekly Tender Review Meetings and record minutes. Review of Enquiry lists with Commercial Manager and prepare schedules. Follow up on business leads. Project Specific Duties. Attend Bi-monthly project meeting with Commercial Manager and Contracts Manager. Review of all correspondence and liaise with Contract Manage on identification of variations. Attend important site meetings. Assist and guide Contracts Manager on production of valuations, variations and final accounts. Oversee sub-contractor appointments, nominated and domestic through management of the Tender Event Schedule with the Contracts Manager. Attend variation account meetings. Attend final account meetings. Attend nominated and domestic sub-contractor appointment meetings. Oversee in conjunction with the project team all contract correspondence and contractual administration/notifications such as, notification letters, contract records etc. and ensure all contracts are returned signed. Advise and produce Contractual Claim, if necessary/required. Defend claims from sub-contractors. Check on important domestic and nominated sub-contracts. Attend internal meetings. Cost Reporting. Produce cost report on a monthly basis with the Contract Manager on each project. Sign off of Matrix on a pre-start and monthly basis. Produce of Summary Report for Projects. Review and issue Tender Event Schedules. Monthly/Weekly Repetitive Duties. Pursue Contract Manager for Recommendations and Architects Certificates Issue action lists to Contracts Managers. Production of Monthly Cash Flow report. Review and assess Cost/Time/General implications of ALL correspondence. Monthly Surveyors Meeting Items outside of those mentioned above, which are addressed at the monthly surveyors meetings include: Review Contracts issued/received. Review Retention MCL & sub-contractor. Review of Practical Completion certificates. Review of Final Certificates. Review of Action lists. General interest items. Essential Skills and Qualifications: Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Graduate. Diploma /certificate in Quantity Surveying Extensive knowledge of MEP industry including design, tendering, construction. Minimum 5 years relevant experience of which at least 2 years in project management/construction and remaining in commercial management of high value projects. Good knowledge of contracts and other relevant commercial aspects. Understanding of FIDIC and other relevant forms of contracts. Preferable Skills and Qualifications: Knowledge of Local Market is desirable. Membership in ASHREA or IEEE is desirable. | |
