| Senior LNG Process Engineer Overview of Position: Chevron Corporation is one of the world’s leading energy companies. Headquartered in San Ramon, California, and conducting business in approximately 180 countries, the company is engaged in every aspect of the oil and natural gas industry, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transportation; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation. Manpower Staffing is accepting online applications for the position of a Senior LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Process Engineer located in the UK through July 20th, 2008. Overview: The Process Technology Department within Chevron’s Energy Technology Company is selectively adding to its’ LNG Systems Team in Houston, TX. The LNG Process Engineer will play a key role in providing high quality technical support and direction to our LNG project efforts in order to ensure success of Chevron’s Global Gas strategies. The LNG Systems Team provides global support for Chevron’s LNG major capital projects in all phases of development and is the LNG capability’s center of excellence for the corporation. Position Details: Key Responsibilities: • Project Consulting – The Senior LNG Process Engineer will provide specialized process engineering support to LNG major capital project teams in areas of concept development, alternative generation, process comparison & selection, optimization, equipment selection, detail engineering, cost estimating, startup and operations (both liquefaction and regasification projects). He/She will also provide guidance to project teams concerning the value impact on an overall LNG facility and across the entire LNG value chain. He/She will provide guidance to project and asset teams concerning operational issues pertaining to LNG systems as well as debottlenecking and troubleshooting assistance to operating facilities. • Process Alternatives Assessment – The Senior LNG Process Engineer will work with LNG capital project teams to assess process technology alternatives and develop realistic assessments of the risk and benefits of new technology. They will go beyond a process focus to incorporate a system view of all links in the LNG value chain. Additionally, they will identify risks and benefits to support high-quality decisions by the capital project teams. • LNG Center of Excellence – As a member of the LNG Center of Excellence, the Senior LNG Process Engineer will contribute to the growth of a high-impact LNG team within Chevron in order to serve the needs of the LNG project teams and operations. He/She will be responsible for developing Chevron LNG technology positions and assist with establishment of Chevron as a technical leader in the LNG business. Furthermore, He/She will support development of LNG technical standards and specifications. • Technology Scanning – The Senior LNG Process Engineer is also responsible for keeping abreast of advances and opportunities in LNG process technology that may have application to Chevron’s business. He/She will assist in defining the technology development portfolios by identifying customer needs, developing or reviewing proposals, and providing conceptual screening capabilities. He/She may represent Chevron at industry forums as well as lead and/or represent Chevron in industry wide joint industry projects intended to prove new concepts. • Mentoring – The Senior LNG Process Engineer will mentor early career engineers and/or project team members concerning LNG process technology and related applications. Required (Basic) Qualifications •Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering is required. •5 years experience in natural gas liquefaction and regasification is required. • Must have participated in HAZIDs, HAZOPs, MOCs, and other applicable related safety focused analysis of the design and operations of LNG facilities. • Understanding of business economics (both capital and operating cost) as it relates to LNG facilities. • A demonstrated working knowledge of process simulators applicable to both gas processes and liquefaction technologies. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of people from different professional, cultural and business backgrounds. Must be able to present and discuss complex technical material in a concise yet meaningful manner. Must be comfortable making presentations to large groups. Strong Microsoft Office knowledge is also required. • Experience working in a self-directed/self-initiating environment and be able to provide leadership to teams when needed. Must have a proven track record of prioritizing work and opportunities in order to achieve maximum business results. • Strong project management experience, and be able to develop and maintain realistic schedules and cost control for self and work group. Experience using project/process management methodologies is also required. • Position could entail a substantial amount of business travel, both domestically and internationally. Candidate's ability to relocate (to meet project needs) will be a factor in selecting the successful candidate Preferred Qualifications • Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred. • LNG plant startup, commissioning and/or operational experience is highly desirable. • Possess demonstrated capability and recognition within the Gas processing industry. May have participated in industry initiatives, JIPs or other industry committees. Must be capable of representing Chevron position(s) as it relates to joint ventured developments/operations, government authorities and/or industry committees.
